Jadeite Rough Live Streaming Window-Opening and Fraud Syndicate Scam: Inducing High-Price Purchases of Waste Stones via Forged Windows and Planted Shills

Victims are mostly ordinary consumers over the age of forty with some savings but a lack of professional expertise in jadeite, along with some retired seniors and jade enthusiasts. They universally hold a speculative mindset of 'picking up bargains at low prices' and 'getting rich overnight with a single cut.' They are vulnerable to the rushed buying atmosphere and so-called 'expert' scripts created in the live room, making impulsive purchases amidst the hype generated by shills. After discovering the goods do not match the description, they are often blocked or given the runaround, making the recovery of rights extremely difficult.

Who Gets Targeted

Victims are mostly ordinary consumers over the age of forty with some savings but a lack of professional expertise in jadeite, along with some retired seniors and jade enthusiasts. They universally hold a speculative mindset of 'picking up bargains at low prices' and 'getting rich overnight with a single cut.' They are vulnerable to the rushed buying atmosphere and so-called 'expert' scripts created in the live room, making impulsive purchases amidst the hype generated by shills. After discovering the goods do not match the description, they are often blocked or given the runaround, making the recovery of rights extremely difficult.

骗局怎么运作

  • Scripted traffic generation and scene creation: Anchors attract viewers using pitches such as 'first-hand sources from Myanmar,' 'direct supply from mining areas,' and 'clearance at a loss.' They create the atmosphere of a professional jade trading venue through carefully arranged lighting and backgrounds, while promising 'full refund if the cut appreciates' and 'guaranteed return if it doesn't' to lower the buyer's psychological defenses.
  • Forged window-opening and fake outer crusts: The syndicate uses techniques such as light illumination, dyeing, and creating fake crusts on ordinary stones or inferior raw materials to fabricate high-quality jadeite window appearances, misleading buyers into thinking there is high-grade jade inside. After actual cutting, they mostly turn out to be waste stones or extremely poor-quality scraps, completely inconsistent with what was displayed in the live room.
  • Group-buying shills and hype building: In private group-buying chats, out of thirty members, twenty-nine might be shills. They are responsible for hyping the atmosphere, rushing to place orders, creating a sense of scarcity, and pretending the stone appreciated after cutting to share screenshots, inducing actual victims to continuously invest more. Often, there is only one real victim in the entire group.
  • Scripted performances and dramatic conflicts: The syndicate arranges plots such as individuals in camouflage rushing into the live room to arrest the anchor, creating a tense and exciting viewing experience. This misleads victims into thinking they have found a bargain or are witnessing a genuine conflict, when in reality it is entirely a pre-rehearsed script specially performed for the victims in the live room.
  • Controlling cutting results and customer service deflection: During the broadcast, the anchor controls the cutting direction through hand signals (fingers pointing up means appreciation, pointing down means depreciation). The syndicate knows the actual internal state of the stone in advance and arranges the cutting position. After cutting, they refuse refunds on the grounds that jade gambling carries risks and cut items cannot be returned, leaving victims with no recourse to recover their rights.

红旗信号(看到这些快跑)

  • 🚩 The anchor claims first-hand sources from Myanmar or direct supply from mining areas, yet prices are far below comparable market rates, accompanied by return conditions that violate industry norms, such as full refunds for appreciated cuts or returns for unappreciated ones.
  • 🚩 Most members in the group-buying chat enthusiastically scramble to buy and post screenshots claiming appreciation, yet their avatars and nicknames are highly similar or they have long been active in the same live room and groups, with only a few actual real victims.
  • 🚩 The live room features dramatic plots (such as someone suddenly rushing in to arrest the anchor or the anchor being beaten), with a pace that is overly theatrical and clearly detached from normal commercial transaction settings.
  • 🚩 Before cutting, the anchor manipulates the cutting direction using hand gestures or eye signals, or visibly avoids close-up, high-definition multi-angle displays of the stone's interior.
  • 🚩 The items received differ drastically from what was displayed in the live room. Customer service refuses after-sales support on the grounds that jade gambling items are non-refundable and non-exchangeable, deflecting through multiple communications until blocking the victim.

How to Protect Yourself

  • ✅ Choose qualified and reputable formal channels to purchase finished jadeite products, request and properly keep core materials such as appraisal certificates and transaction vouchers, and avoid private transfer transactions.
  • ✅ Maintain a high level of vigilance against live-stream promotions boasting first-hand sources, direct mining supply, and guaranteed returns on appreciated cuts. Prices far below comparable market rates can basically be determined as traps.
  • ✅ Do not participate in private group-buying jade gambling chats. Pay attention to whether members in the group are active in the same live room for a long time or have identical avatars and nicknames, and immediately exit and report upon noticing abnormalities.
  • ✅ Send received items to a third-party authoritative appraisal agency for re-inspection at the earliest opportunity. If the goods do not match the description, immediately file a complaint with the live-streaming platform and report to the police, while saving live stream recordings and chat logs simultaneously.
  • ✅ Do not easily trust any dramatic plots in live streams, stay alert to abnormal gestures and eye movements by the anchor, and avoid being swept into impulsive purchases by a tense atmosphere.
