AI Medical Record Forgery and Extortion Scam: One-click AI generation of medical histories and invoices, targeting merchants first and then tricking patients into buying treatment packages

Victims fall into two categories: First, small and medium-sized catering merchants who encounter "professional claimants" holding AI-forged medical records, diagnostic certificates, and electronic invoices, choosing to settle privately out of fear that bad reviews and complaints will affect their business. Second, middle-aged and elderly patients and their families who trust and experience anxiety after seeing AI-generated fake "hospital stories" and "cure cases" online, leading them to be guided into purchasing high-priced "treatment packages" or "special conditioning plans." The common psychological weakness of both groups is their habitual trust in paper documents and "authoritative hospital endorsements," combined with an anxious mindset of wanting to avoid trouble or worsening conditions.

Who Gets Targeted

骗局怎么运作

  • Step 1: Scammers use generative AI tools to batch-forge medical credentials, including hospital diagnostic certificates, test reports, medical fee electronic invoices, and photos of vomit or medicine. The document formats and official seal details are highly simulated, making it difficult for ordinary people to distinguish between true and false with the naked eye.
  • Step 2: Targeting merchants, after dining in or ordering takeout, scammers claim they got "food poisoning," present forged medical records to demand thousands of yuan in medical expenses, and threaten to report them to market regulators and post continuous bad reviews on review platforms if they refuse to pay, exploiting the merchants' desire to settle matters quietly to complete the extortion.
  • Step 3: Targeting patients, scammers post AI-generated fake heartwarming hospital stories and "cure cases" on social media, disguising themselves as accounts of well-known hospital experts or rehabilitated patients to drive traffic, using rhetoric such as "internal channels of tertiary Grade A hospitals" or "conditions will worsen if the window period is missed."
  • Step 4: After pulling the targets into private domains, they use AI-generated forged MRI and blood test "interpretation reports" showing "severe indicator abnormalities" to create panic, claiming that immediate intervention is necessary or consequences will be severe.
  • Step 5: They smoothly pitch high-priced "treatment packages," "conditioning courses," or unknown drugs ranging from thousands to tens of thousands of yuan. After receiving payment, they either ship a placebo or directly cut off contact, switching account matrices to continue scamming once successful.

红旗信号(看到这些快跑)

  • 🚩 Medical credentials and test reports only provide images or screenshots, refusing to provide document numbers and medical visit serial numbers that can be verified through the hospital's official channels.
  • 🚩 Claimants are unwilling to go through formal appraisal or third-party mediation, accepting only immediate private transfers and using bad reviews and exposure as leverage.
  • 🚩 The so-called expert accounts cannot provide verifiable practicing qualifications, and the recommended "treatment packages" have no prescriptions or national drug approval numbers.
  • 🚩 Forged reports commonly use rhetoric such as "severe indicator abnormalities" or "it will be too late if you don't treat it now" to create a sense of urgency, urging on-the-spot payment.
  • 🚩 Collection accounts are personal WeChat accounts or frequently changing third-party payment accounts, without issuing formal invoices or drug purchase receipts.

How to Protect Yourself

  • ✅ When receiving a medical credential claim, request the other party to provide document numbers verifiable through the hospital's official channels, and directly call the hospital billing office to verify without making private transfers lightly.
  • ✅ Any diagnosis conclusion should be subject to in-person consultations at formal offline medical institutions, and major medication or purchase decisions should not be made based on "AI report interpretations" circulating online.
  • ✅ Before purchasing drugs or treatment plans, check the approval numbers and enterprise qualifications on the official website of the National Medical Products Administration, and reject "treatment packages" without prescriptions.
  • ✅ When encountering claims threatening bad reviews and exposure, retain chat records and vouchers, and report to the police or reflect to market regulators at the first instance, following formal mediation channels.
  • ✅ Maintain vigilance against accounts on social media impersonating well-known hospitals and experts, and base decisions on information released by hospital official websites and official WeChat accounts.
